The Boulder Valley School District takes all allegations of discrimination and harassment seriously. We continue to focus on improvements to our policies, reporting systems, practices, and education efforts—all with the goal of ensuring every BVSD student feels safe, welcomed, and a strong sense of belonging.

From the beginning of our community engagement effort, our commitment was to listen before taking action. The values, priorities and perspectives shared by our community will help guide the difficult decisions ahead, as we consider how best to position BVSD for the future.

One message was clear: our community understands that declining enrollment presents real challenges and that maintaining high-quality educational experiences for students may require change. We also heard a strong desire to preserve what makes BVSD special—excellent teaching and learning, strong school communities, and opportunities for every student to thrive.

At a worksession this month, the Board of Education told staff and the community that it is looking to make big changes in order to be able to provide experiences identified as priorities during recent community engagement efforts.
