2nd & 3rd Grade
Our 2nd and 3rd Grade Loop:
Second grade is a time of awakening awareness in the world around them for the 7/8 year old. The overarching theme of metamorphosis weaves through the year in the following ways: studying the physical changes an insect goes through in its life cycle, exploring the transformation of Ancient cultures into modern times, the ways in which landforms change over time, and, finally, our landmark study of heroes where we learn about the global changes heroes have made throughout history.
Third grade is the bridge year between the lower and upper loop. It is a year of building independence and new connections in the classroom community. Through our studies of Ancient Greece and its impact on our current government systems, health and nutrition, the Amazon Rainforest where we study geography, climate and structures of life, space and motion and matter, our students develop important stamina and skills. Our year culminates with an empowering and transformative overnight outdoor education trip.
